Parkly and CHAOS are forming a partnership to create new kind of synergies around our common goal: to create better public places and more liveable cities.

Parkly and CHAOS are both young startups, founded in Finland. They share an inspiring vision: creating sustainable, liveable and green cities. Parkly focuses on place-making, circulation and urban green whereas CHAOS provides urban forecasts and crowd insights through their AI-powered dashboard to create more liveable cities. The main goal of CHAOS and Parkly’s partnership is to form synergy in creating more green and sustainable cities.

Cities are planned using old-fashioned measures

CHAOS is PropTech, i.e. property technology, which refers to solutions that make real estate more efficient in research, analytics and property management.

“Real estate is a among the largest asset classes in the world. It has an important role in urban development and for combatting climate change. Cities should be built in a sustainable manner, but so far the investments and planning are being done with old-fashioned measures”, reveals Natalia Rincón, CEO and Co-founder of CHAOS Architects.

“We are also talking about an industry, that is very conservative. It changes slowly. We can already see how young people are frustrated with slow change when it comes to solving climate change and they are taking matters in to their own hands. We want to be playing with those actors: the ones who are willing to change. We also want to help businesses to see the value of liveable cities”, Rincón adds.

Tactical urbanism makes places more liveable

Parkly was created to fast-track the transformation of public places and to accelerate sustainable urban change. The founders of Parkly believe that happy places and happy people go hand-in-hand. The importance of good public places and local neighbourhoods is growing and Parkly wants to speed up the development of these spaces with modular solutions. Therefore Parkly makes tactical urbanism, which refers to cost-effective and temporary changes in the built environment which improve public spaces.

“We are passionate about better public spaces, the core of good city life and thriving communities. We want to bring out the best in public spaces so that we can fully utilise their potential. Public spaces are the core of urban environments”, says Päivi Raivio, co-founder of Parkly.

Parklys Partnership with CHAOS enables them to make proactive tactical urbanism and pinpoint the locations where liveability could be improved.

“CHAOS and Parkly share a common vision, strong startup-mentality and the desire to change the status quo. We do things differently and believethat cities should be made for people”, Raivio adds.

Level Up: Placemaking makes future

The partnership between these two companies was announced on Wednesday 17th, during the Level Up event which they organised in collaboration. Level Up included inspiring cases and new solutions for active exchange of ideas and expanded networks. The presenters shared insights and innovative solutions for sustainable cities. The goal of the event was to gather real estate investors, planners and innovators together to share their knowledge, ideas and to form new collaborative models for sustainable urban change.

However, Level Up is only scratching the surface of the partnership. The majority of the partnership happens behind closed doors; in interaction with decision makers, urban planners and real estate developers. Interesting articles about the partnership are just behind the corner.

“We are excited about the partnership. It requires strong networks and partnerships to create liveable cities”, says Rincón.
